Identifying The Actual Truth About The HCG Diet

By Supreet Y Sandhu

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, commonly known as hCG diet, is nothing new in the world of dieting. Also known as the hormone of pregnancy, this solution was used for diets in the mid-twentieth century. It has resurged in modern times as one of the latest fads in America, where a high population of people want to lose weight. Unlike other fad diets, the positive truth about the hCG diet: it works.

Although there are many claims about its effectiveness in this realm, the FDA does not approve of it being used for weight loss. It was created as a way to treat infertile women. The FTC has placed tough regulations on marketing for the drug. Likewise, physicians cannot advertise this drug for weight loss. Still, it is widely accessible for this use.

Most of the controversy associated with this drug used for losing weight comes from the heavy restrictions required on calories, as well as the potentially negative side effects. There has been so much hype and obsession in American society over quick weight-loss programs. This has added fuel to the flames and burned the potential of hCG becoming a tool used for healthy management of weight.

In the 1950s, Doctor Albert T W Simeons, an obesity researcher, published his studies on the effectiveness of hCG as a supplement for weight loss along with a restrictive diet. It did not gain as much attraction as expected and fell out of popularity with the 1960s. Doctor Simeons said the Gonadotropin works by resetting the hypothalamus in the brain and switching up how the body burns its fat.

In his work, he made note of the three kinds of fat present in the human body: structural fat, reserve fat and abnormal fat. Structural refers to that which fills the gaps to offer protection around the bones and organs. Reserve is the fat that is used as nutritional income, fuel for the muscles and a regulator of body temperature. Then there is the abnormal kind that should act as reserves but is trapped. Simeons believed that the hCG allowed the body to burn trapped fat.

Dieters following this regime are encouraged to take the supplement with a diet of 500 calories. At this stage, they would not feel hunger pains because the body is living on the calories from the fat that is trapped. It is recommended that this stage only be done for 21 to 40 days.

This can be used as a tool for successful and healthy weight loss. However, it requires the proper steps and professional doctors. The patients should be screened and monitored for progress from the start. The initial stages should be monitored by a physician and the transition to normal activity and eating should be done gradually. The diet itself does not teach healthy eating habits, so behavioral modification must be learned to ensure that the weight is not added back.

People who want to do this technique can get positive results. In addition to looking better, they will also feel better and reduce ailments that come with being overweight: high C-reactive protein, cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose. The positive truth about the hCG diet centers around this: it benefits people who remain dedicated and work closely with a trained physician through the process.
