Make the Most of your Botox Experience

Once you've decided that BOTOX is the right way for you to achieve a more youthful, aesthetically pleasing look, you need to prepare yourself. The treatments are quick and uncomplicated. As a result, you should be able to review in detail the procedure you are about to undergo. As you prepare to use Botox to eliminate wrinkles or for one of its many other uses, it's important to be informed about the details of the procedure. And to be prepared to let your physician know what kind of results you are hoping to achieve.

Again, the actual day of the treatment is pretty normal. There is no anaesthesia to take and very little preparation required. Likely, once with your doctor, nurse, or certified staff member, you will be asked to sit in a reclining, dentist-like chair. Knowing what you are trying to accomplish, the person administering your Botox treatment will likely ask you to contract specific muscles, then he or she will mark the injection locations.

As soon as the Botox injections are administered, you'll likely have some red dots showing in the area of treatment. Instances of minor bruising or swelling have presented themselves in very rare cases. If that were the case, the simple application of make-up would cover that up until the bruising disappeared. This would likely occur within a few hours of the Botox treatment. Scars on the face are not a concern, since this is not an invasive procedure. To speed up the healing process, doctors recommend holding a cold washcloth to the injection site for a few minutes after the procedure.

It's pretty common for doctors to provide some type of documentation to support recovery after your procedure. The Botox will take effect within the first few hours with full results visible within about a week. So keep this in mind when you are scheduling your appointment around an event.

What Will it Cost You?

One of the main reasons for the procedure's worldwide popularity is the price point of an actual procedure. A BOTOX session will usually cost between $300 and $400 per syringe. Of course, this really depends on the specific treatment you'll receive. Compared to other anti-wrinkle injectable treatments, only collagen will typically cost less than BOTOX. To maintain results, patients have to repeat the procedure every four to six months.

Known Side Effects of Botox

When Botox side effects do happen, they're usually temporary. They can show themselves within the first week of injection, and can, in some instances, persist for several months. The kinds of side effects depend on where BOTOX Cosmetic is injected. For patients with frown lines, the most common Botox related side effects include:
