Every time we turn on the television we are bombarded with various weight loss solutions guaranteeing fast results. Reality is there is no quick fix. When you get serious about losing weight, you will realize that these quick solutions are not the answer; but hard work and commitment is the only way to lose weight and keep it off.

Believe That You Can

You have to believe that you can lose the weight.

To succeed at losing weight and keeping it off you have to strongly believe that you can and will. Belief ranks right up there with regular exercise and healthy eating. Without belief, you are setting yourself up for failure before you even start.

Take a moment to reflect on why you want to lose weight and then write it down. Once that is done, decide on the total amount of weight that you will lose and vow to hit that number. No matter what obstacles come your way promise yourself that you will not quit until you hit your goal.

Staying on track is going to require you to stay positive. Feed your mind daily with motivational quotes, affirmations and the success stories of other people who have successfully lost weight. If you have one bad day don't let it discourage you. Just dust it off and get right back on track.

As time goes on and you begin to see results from your efforts, it will be easier to stay on track.

Drink At Least 8 Glasses Of Water

Water is necessary to keep the body functioning properly.

Also drinking water helps to give you the feeling of being full which will require you to eat less during the day.

Once your body is receiving the amount of water that it needs, it will improve digestion and release the excess fluid stored in the cells.

Drinking a glass before each meal will help you to eat less and lose more.

Get Active

Every good weight loss plan should include regular exercise. Weight loss can be accomplished without exercise but when you add in exercise it tend to bring faster and longer lasting benefits.

If you havent exercised in a while or flat out dislike exercising, start out with an easy exercise like walking. Taking a brisk walk outside in the evening can be fun and refreshing. The key is to find an exercising that you feel comfortable working into your lifestyle.

Ideally, you should get to a point where you are working out for at least 30 minutes 5 days per week or more.

As you become more comfortable with exercise try adding in some high impact aerobics such as Taebo or Zumba.

When you make exercise a regular part of your life, not only will you lose weight but you will also be healthier.

Eat More Often

Rather than having 3 large meals daily, break that down into 5 or 6 smaller meals. This will help you stay full and eliminate the need to snack.

Remember that even though you are eating more often you still should not exceed your normal calorie intake.

If planning 6 small meals seems difficult, just make 3 meals and split them in half.

Sleep 7 To 8 Hours Each Night

When you are not getting enough sleep, it causes an increase in the amount of ghrelin in the body. When we are not allowing our bodies to get the rest needed to perform properly, it releases ghrelin into our system. Ghrelin is a hormone that regulates appetite. When our bodies are sleep deprived, this hormone increases and causes the desire to eat more.

Ideally, you should be sleeping between 7 and 8 hours each night.

To improve your quality of sleep do not drink caffeine based drinks, workout or eat at least 3 hours before bed time.

Although simple, these tips can have a positive impact on your weight loss.
