Looking your Best for your Wedding

By Anne Fennell

With wedding season approaching, many couples are in the final planning stages of this important life event. Naturally, every person wants to look their best for the big day. In the run-up to their wedding, some men and women spend hundreds of dollars on beauty products and skincare treatments.

During the stressful few months before a wedding, a facial or a back massage is the perfect way to relax. You can unwind by going to a spa or getting your nails done, even if all the planning can get extremely hectic. You might also look into another treatment that is becoming more popular with the soon-to-be-wed. It is increasingly common for brides and grooms to-be, who want to look their best, to go for Botox. Making a good impression at the wedding is important; it is important that you feel confident in your skin, because the pictures are going to stay with you for the rest of your life.

Before your wedding, how long should you wait to have Botox?

The Botox injections should be done one month before the big day, at least. It is always important to do a test-run; even though Botox treatment is quick and safe, if you have never had it before it is understandable that you may feel a little nervous. We advise you to have it done at least a month before though, because it can take about 7-14 days to see the full effects after the initial treatment.

Also, you should avoid alcohol, facial massages and extreme changes in temperature such as steam rooms and sauna's for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure- so take this into account when arranging your wedding activities like stags and stagettes.

You might experience slight tenderness and mild pain during the Botox injection, however they are relatively painless. There may be some minor swelling immediately after the injection; this usually settles down in about half an hour though. We recommend you have it done in advance because you may also get some slight bruising the next day, although this is relatively uncommon.

The frown, forehead and eye wrinkles are generally treated sucessfully with Botox. During the big day, you may find yourself overwhelmed with emotions and this may be evident in your facial expressions. If you want to get rid of some wrinkles before your wedding, Botox can help you do away with frown lines in the area between your eyebrows, crow's feet around your eyes, or unwanted horizontal lines across your forehead.

Also popular as preparation for a wedding or other significant occasion is an excessive sweating treatment called hyperhidrosis. A likely problem on an important occasion, such as your wedding, is excessive sweating; some people are prone to it, in response to hot temperatures, stress or emotion.

Make sure, if you are are considering Botox and are engaged to marry, that you have it at least one month prior to give enough response time for your muscles, and to get the benefit of the full effect.
